What are City Directors?
City Directors (CDs) are teams of undergraduate students that spearhead organization of programming in the Philippines.
They are responsible for identifying a city experiencing issues that we address with our current programs, contacting institutions in the Philippines for potential donation, and maintaining connection with Filipino partners until the PHI season commences and items are received.
While PHI is a Filipino-interest organization, we are not Filipino-exclusive. We welcome any & all student backgrounds to participate!
2025-2026 City Directors
Kayla Haugen
Project Sining: Impact Through Art
Focus: Baguio & Bayombong
I am planning on doing various donation drives/sales. I want to focus on art specifically by hosting fun art activities for people here at UCF that will then be sent to schools and medical institutions. I am also thinking about hosting an art sale where people can buy stickers/art prints and the proceeds will go to the Philippines, or a donation event where people can get rid of their old art supplies and they can go to a child in the Philippines who would benefit from it more. I feel like this will be a fun way to uplift the kids over there who may be struggling.
Jielianne Rodriguez
Focus: Malaya, Pililla, Rizal
As City Director, I aim to provide donations of essential goods, such as hygiene products, along with nutritional education resources for underserved families. This project would not only address immediate needs by improving access to basic care items but also empower families with knowledge to make healthier choices. By investing in children’s growth and wellbeing, I believe we can create stronger, healthier communities in the Philippines. This aligns with PHI’s mission of creating sustainable, impactful projects that benefit our Filipino communities overseas.
Luca Quintana
Focus: Northern Mindanao
I plan on assisting the agricultural aspect. I want to focus on food disparity.
Details & Timeline
This position will last from September 2025 – May 2026, varying from 3-10 hours/week.
From September to December, the main involvement of CDs is formal project proposals surrounding an identified city of choice. Following a week-by-week curricula developed by the Executive Board, CDs create asset-based solutions to identified issues in their chosen city. CDs are expected to work within the programming frameworks we have established, but are also encouraged to be creative in how they execute our programming. At the conclusion of CD project ideation, teams will present their ideas and the necessary steps to execute their plans.
From January to May, CD teams take ownership and responsibility of the project’s goals and execution. CDs act as direct managers of the execution of their project, including outreach, media, logistics, and fundraising efforts. CDs are expected to carry out their own programming within their university organizations and other extracurricular involvements to contribute to their project execution.
